Firefox Security Update
Mozilla recently released a new version of Firefox (1.0.1). This update includes improved security that will make users less vulnerable to phishing. You can download the update at www.mozillia.org.
Firefox continues to catch on
On February 15th, exactly 99 days after it was released, Firefox 1.0 smashed through the 25 million download milestone. This is great news!!! Read more on SpreadFirefox.com. Their site is built on the CivicSpace/Drupal CMS, which Development Seed uses to build many of our client sites.
Firefox Use Still Rising
Although only about 5% of internet users use Firefox, there is reason for IE to be nervous. First, Firefox is new. Its email client Thunderbird has only been officially available to download for about a month. And Firefox doesn't really advertise. Everyone I know heard about it from a friend, from a blog, or from a online article saying its much more secure than IE. But most importantly, it's use is growing fast, almost as fast as everyone's frustration with IE.

Microsoft Bullying Firefox?
It seems that Microsoft is playing dirty, but that’s not entirely shocking. Firefox users are being told to “Update their browser” when they try to submit a website to MSN search. Hmm…. I guess that’s a sign of how well Firefox is doing.
Penn State Says Drop IE
This week Penn State's IT department sent out an alert to all of the school's 80,000 students urging them to stop using Internet Explorer. The reason? Security concerns. And because alternatives exist. They recommended that instead students use Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, or Safari web browsers. http://live.psu.edu/story/9376
