New i18n handbook
A Guide to Using Drupal's Multilingual System
We've released a complete handbook, "Internationalization: Building multilingual sites" to the new internationalization module that was released last week . This should make it easier for people to start using the new module and to understand all the new features and bug fixes.
We developers are usually so busy trying to fix the code and adding tons of new features that sometimes we forget an important fact – these features and software in general are useless unless people know how to use them.
This handbook explains how to use the i18n module and includes many screenshots to show you some of the new features. I hope that this will save people time as they figure out how the module works and whether it fits their needs.
There are already a lot of support requests and forum posts out there with questions and answers about these modules. But the problem is that the information is so dispersed that it is difficult to find. This handbook should get around that problem, and as new questions come in, I'll do my best to answer them and incorporate them into it.
I'm sure there's lot of room for improvement, and I hope that you'll give us some feedback on the handbook so we can improve it and make it a more useful resource. And of course I would love feedback on the module itself.
By the way, after reading the documentation and my recent blog posts, some of you may think that my English has improved. That may be so, but not that much. It's been Bonnie Bogle, who’s been reviewing my grammar and spelling and transformed my criptic half English/half PHP posts into something more people can comprehend. Thanks Bonnie.
