SlideShowPro Integration Module Makes Creating Slideshows Easy

It's been lying in our drawers for months, and I've finally had the chance to dust off and upload the SlideShowPro Integration module that Stefano Malozzi (stefano73) wrote and I wrote a filter for. SlideShowPro is one of the prettier and more flexible Flash slideshows out there. Alas it's not  free, but the $29 cost doesn't tear holes into your pockets either.

The really cool thing about SlideShowPro is that it can be fed by an XML description of albums and images, which paves the way to easy integration with Drupal. The SlideShowPro module allows you to build an XML description of a slideshow with views. You can then embed this slideshow with a simple tag like [ssp|path=path/to/slideshow].

Watch this screencast to see how it works:

SlideShowPro Integration in Drupal - screencast

The current version of the module can turn images and albums of the image module into SlideShowPro slideshows. It should be possible to turn other image resources - like CCK nodes with imagefield pictures - into slideshows too by overriding the theme_slideshowpro_feed() function.

Great work on the module Stefano!

thanks

Hi Austin,

I am not sure what steps you have used, but I was able to get the swf to work on my site by placing the swf file in my root folder. I use Director for my site though and this was before the module Alex has created. When creating a SSP swf file in Flash CS3, make sure you select Actionscript 2.0. Also check the xml path to make sure it points to the correct location.

I have been waiting for something like this. It is a great module Alex. I am looking forward to testing it out. I have no trouble with my banner gallery, but i have not been able to get the slideshows to work in the nodes.

thanks

Intergrating it with ecomerce

Hi, I'm new to drupal and have a client that wants a webshop of her pictures she also want's a cool gallery. Is there any way to get the plugin to also export more data to the xml file ie. a link that adds the item to the drupal ecommerce shop? Or maybe also a link that would display in thickbox or greybox or something similar? Cheers. Thanks for the great work.

Hi Luis, Adding additional

Hi Luis,

Adding additional data is easy to do as you can override the XML output with a theming function.

If you have problems with doing this, please post a support request on the issue tracker of slideshowpro here: http://drupal.org/project/issues/slideshowpro

I would also like to encourage other users on this thread to post specific module requests to the issue tracker.

Thank you for your interest, everybody.

Nice video, any help?

This is nice screencast, clean and concise. Very easy to implement after watching. Thanks for a great drupal module.

The trial version worked fine. But, after purchasing SSP, I am having trouble create the swf file in Flash CS3. The instructions in the png are self explanatory, and it seems it is pretty simple, but I just cannot get it to work. Any suggestions, or maybe add some information about troubleshooting, or maybe I am just a dunce.

Thanks for a great module anyhow.
