Camera phones, and the photos taken with them, got a lot of coverage after the London attacks two weeks ago. After today’s blasts, London police are hoping that they can help nab the people responsible them. The UK Police Service is asking witnesses with cell phone pictures of the blasts to send them to their website.
Development Seed wishes the best to the UK police to catch everyone responsible for the attacks and to everyone in London affected by the attacks today and two weeks ago.

Just a note about camera phones. I don't have one yet, but after reading several posts, then seeing what is happening in the world today, I believe they might be our salvation. Like anything, they can be mis-used (a friend had one mis-used by a boy-friend), but that aside, it gives the average citizen the opportunity to record things of imporance. Chances are we'll go through life without stumbling across a world changing event; but in those rare cases when we are there, I'm thankful that technology has given us the ability to record events for posterity. Let me know if I can help you promote things in anyway... I'm a writer for a variety of health and success subjects for searchtheplanet.com
Citizen Journalism
Hi June, thank you for your comment. Perhaps one way you could help is to alert your readers to the ways that people use cell phones to report their own news - also know as citizen journalism. The London bombings brought a lot of attention to this type of reporting, which in turn has opened many doors for the average person who wants to get involved in the news.
Many news organizations now encourage people to contribute their own stories, photos, and videos to be included in the news. Local papers are doing this to cover events they don't have time to attend - like school board meetings and high school sporting events. Even CNN is encouraging people to submit their own news. Maybe your readers would enjoying reading about ways they can participate in citizen journalism, whether with a cell phone camera or not.
