SMS Campaign Helps Greenpeace Change Policy
Mobile campaign pushed through a Zero Waste Policy in Argentina
Greenpeace Argentina
just won a Zero Waste campaign in Buenos Aires after a 15-month campaign in which it used a combination of text messages and phone calls from 4,500 mobile activists as the main tools to pressure the city parliament.
The large city, with over 3 million residents, is now required to reduce urban waste sent to landfills 50% by 2010, 75% in 2015, and 100% in 2020. The Zero Waste Policy also prevents trash burning and
focuses it’s reduction of waste on aggressive recycling.
-- Oscar Soria with Green Peace Argentina just posted these details of his latest victory to the MobileActive listserv.
